Director of Operations and Quality

David holds a BSc (Hons) in International Tourism & Hospitality Management from the University of Sunderland and an MBA from the University of Wales. While studying he developed a passion to share his knowledge of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry.
As general manager with Trusthouse Forte (Little Chef Roadside Division) his track record for the company was taking on problematic sites and quickly turning them around to profit centres. While employed by the company he realised the importance of acquiring multi-discipline competencies required for running business, hotels and restaurants effectively.
David continued to progress and worked for an export company in London as regional operational manager responsible for a group of Eastern European countries. He had a portfolio of premium British brands and was responsible for negotiation deals in a challenging, untested and volatile market. The outcome was very satisfying as he represented the first western company to trade successfully in this region with reputable brands such as: Rothmans, Cadbury, British, American Tobacco and Scottish Whisky.
Due to the Yugoslav conflict he decided to go back to the hotel and restaurant trade by moving to London to project manage the ( award winning) Lord’s Brassiere at Lord’s Cricket Ground, a public house and a Thai food establishment.
David later excelled himself in the private education sector starting as a part time lecturer and progressing to course leader, then to head of department; within two years he was promoted to assistant director of studies. Currently, he is proud to be associated with OTHM (The Organisation for Tourism Hospitality Management), the well established travel, tourism and hospitality awarding body, as Operations and Quality Director.
